For a Rainy Day

Description

Rose Saxby is in her mid-thirties, single, and finally hitting her stride as a wedding photographer in Norfolk, Virginia. She has worked hard to get where she is, overcoming a childhood where she and her brother Rye were frequently left to fend for themselves by parents who were too restless to settle down.

It comes as a complete surprise when Rose learns she has inherited an estate in another Norfolk—a county in England. But as Rose and Rye quickly discover, Saxby Hall comes with a lot of baggage. They are ill-prepared for the grave consequences they must face as they become acquainted with their new home and with their distant cousin, who will stop at nothing to remove Rose, Rye, and Saxby Hall's quirky residents to further his own greedy plans.

The Saxbys have also managed to attract the attention of the police, who are not happy that the presence of the two Americans has rained so much trouble on their turf. All roads eventually lead to a frozen lake in Sweden, where truths—and lies—are finally revealed, and to a crossroads, where Rose and Rye must ultimately decide whether to accept a different definition of home and family.
